Making Healthcare Insurance Options More Accessible

What if... we could develop a product suite for a healthcare insurance company to sell its products in a simple and digital way?

Our client is a healthcare insurance leader dedicated to improving the cost, quality, and accessibility of healthcare. The company, our client for more than a decade, serves more than 15 million consumers through its relationships with healthcare insurance providers, including more than four million members in its own region.

A Product to Help Other Healthcare Insurers Reach Customers

The process of purchasing healthcare insurance has increasingly moved online, but not all insurance organizations have the staff and infrastructure required to build and support their own online sales model.

Our client had an idea to create a customizable core Medicare and under-65 product that it could take to other healthcare insurance providers in an effort to acquire more members. The solution needed to be customizable in order to serve the unique needs of other insurance providers throughout the United States.

We provided a team of development engineers, quality engineers, and a Scrum Master to work with client stakeholders to understand what was needed and then develop an easy-to-use, state-of-the-art, and configurable product.

Building a Customizable Solution for Local Needs

Our client needed a customizable core product that integrated with its sales applications and allowed the public to examine and purchase insurance during the open enrollment period.

Our experts partnered with our client to understand processes and design and develop the core integrated product application suite and new applications, while also enhancing existing sales applications and integrating them within the larger product suite.

The new and existing applications were built and enhanced using a combination of Java, WordPress, and Drupal, with Java and Node used on the back end and React on the front end, to provide an intuitive user interface. The applications were deployed to Red Hat OpenShift and utilized a collection of content management items.

The customizable application serves as a product suite to house several sales applications and features a robust feature set that the client can selectively utilize. On top of that, the features are customizable in order to meet state and local regulations.

A Custom and Customizable Product to Extend Market Reach

Our client now has a new product suite that enables extended reach into the Medicare and under-65 demographics. In addition, it can market and sell the product to other healthcare insurance providers.

Our client’s customers can easily customize the product suite to meet local and state regulations. For those who are using the application to browse and purchase insurance, the new suite is easy to use and brings a collection of related material into one place.
